Fitment Note

This kit is made for vehicles with 2 to 4 inches of suspension lift. It does not fit KDSS-equipped models and it is not a lift kit by itself. It replaces the front upper and lower control arms after the vehicle has been lifted.

Product Description

Once a GX470, 4Runner, or FJ Cruiser is lifted, the stock front upper arms can run at a less-than-ideal ball joint angle and make the alignment harder to dial in. This Freedom Offroad package replaces both front upper and lower control arms in one shot, so you are not mixing new upper arms with worn-out factory lowers, ball joints, and bushings.

The upper arms are built around a 2 to 4-inch lift range to improve ball joint angle and clearance at the top of the suspension. The lower arms include new ball joints, bushings, and cam bolts, which is useful when the original hardware is rusted, seized, or no longer gives the alignment shop enough adjustment. The cam bolts and sleeves provide up to +/- 1.5 degrees of camber and caster adjustment.

What GX470 Owners Should Know Before Ordering

A common question with this style of upper control arm is whether it can be used on a stock-height truck. This kit is specifically made for a 2 to 4-inch lifted setup, so it is not the right choice for a stock-height replacement. Make sure you know your actual lift height before ordering, especially if the truck already has aftermarket springs or adjustable coilovers.

After installation, get an alignment before putting serious miles on the vehicle. Freedom Offroad also recommends re-torquing the suspension hardware after 500 to 1,000 miles. The upper ball joints come pre-greased, so do not add grease unless the manufacturer’s instructions call for it.
