Hear more turbo spool and intake sound from your N55 with this cold air intake kit from Rtunes Racing. It replaces the restrictive factory airbox with a mandrel-bent intake pipe, open high-flow filter and vehicle-specific heat shield.
The open filter makes the N55 much easier to hear when you get into boost, while the heat shield helps separate the filter from direct engine-bay heat. The less restrictive intake path is also designed to improve airflow and throttle response without requiring you to piece together additional hoses or mounting hardware.
This kit fits several N55-powered F-chassis BMWs, including the 335i, 435i, M135i, M235i and original F87 M2.

Intake Sound
The factory BMW airbox hides most of the sound from the N55 turbo. Replacing it with the Rtunes open-filter intake gives you louder turbo spool, more induction sound under acceleration and a more noticeable rush of air when you lift off the throttle.
During normal cruising, the intake stays much less noticeable. The biggest difference comes when you get into boost and start running the engine through the gears.
Installation
Most installations take around 30 to 60 minutes with basic hand tools. The factory airbox and intake tubing are removed, then the Rtunes intake pipe, filter and heat shield are installed using the included couplers, hoses, clamps and mounting hardware.
Check every clamp and vacuum connection before starting the engine. An air leak after the mass airflow sensor can cause poor running or a check engine light.
Emissions Notice
Rtunes Racing does not publish a CARB Executive Order number for this intake. Check your state and local emissions requirements before ordering or installing it on a street-driven vehicle.
