Product Description
This Pro Kit is for fabricators and enthusiasts who need more than a small pre-cut shield. It gives you two thin AISI 309 stainless sheets for the outer heat barrier and a larger ceramic fiber mat for added insulation behind it. The material can be trimmed and shaped around the area you are trying to protect.
The stainless layers reflect and block radiant heat, while the ceramic fiber mat adds insulation between the heat source and the component behind the shield. It is a useful approach around exhaust tubing, manifolds, turbocharger areas, wiring, fluid lines, intake parts, and body panels when a vehicle-specific shield is not available.
Installation Notes
Plan the shield around the actual heat source and leave appropriate clearance for moving parts, hoses, wiring, and service access. BOOST Products recommends trimming the ceramic mat, placing it around the component, forming the stainless sheet around it, and welding the shield assembly where appropriate. The final temperature reduction depends on source temperature, exposure time, airflow, and the finished shield design.
