Product Description

The Street Edge SE801039 coilover kit gives the 2000–2005 Ford Focus sedan or hatchback an adjustable lowered stance without turning it into an uncomfortable track-only car. The dampers use a fixed street-oriented calibration that is firmer than stock but designed to remain manageable for regular commuting and daily driving.

Ride height can be adjusted from approximately 1.4 to 2.2 inches lower in front and 1.4 to 2.0 inches lower in the rear. This range allows the owner or installer to reduce wheel gap while retaining enough adjustment to account for wheel fitment, tire clearance and normal street use.

The front suspension uses coilover-style strut assemblies, while the rear retains the Focus’s separate spring-and-damper layout with adjustable rear spring perches. Shortened damper rods are matched to the reduced ride height so the suspension operates more effectively than factory-length replacement dampers paired with aggressive lowering springs.

Street Edge uses galvanized-steel housings to help protect the dampers from corrosion. Powder-coated springs, helper springs and integrated bump stops complete a straightforward suspension package intended for drivers who want height adjustment and firmer handling at an accessible price.

Ride Height and Damping

These coilovers provide adjustable ride height but do not have adjustable damping. Street Edge presets the damping approximately 15% to 25% firmer than the original Focus suspension. This helps reduce body movement while retaining a more forgiving ride than a heavily track-focused coilover setup.

The lowest possible setting is not always the best setting. Available suspension travel, tire clearance, road conditions and wheel offset should all be considered when selecting the final ride height.

Before Installation

• Inspect the factory upper mounts, bearings, bushings and related suspension hardware before installation.
• Replace worn factory components while the suspension is disassembled.
• Measure wheel and tire clearance at the intended ride height.
• Set both sides of each axle to matching heights before driving.
• Allow the suspension to settle, recheck ride height and then perform a four-wheel alignment.
• Recheck fastener torque after the initial break-in period.
