Part numbers & item numbers

Important before you order: these are designed for the halogen model only. If your E46 came from the factory with Xenon HID headlights, these will not plug in correctly. Check your current headlights before adding to cart. If you have the standard halogen setup, you're good to go.

This is the post-facelift 4-door sedan LCI fitment, covering 2002–2005 only. It will not fit the pre-facelift E46 (1999–2001), the 2-door coupe, the convertible, or the wagon. The facelift sedan got reshaped headlight housings in 2002, so fitment between the two generations is not interchangeable.

Installation is straightforward. Four bolts hold each housing in, the wiring plugs straight into your factory harness, and the halo wiring taps into your parking light circuit. No inverter, no CCFL module, no cutting. H1 is included for the high beam; you'll need to bring your own H7 for the low beam since those aren't included.

Frequently asked questions

Will these fit my E46 if it has factory Xenon HID lights?
No.  These are designed for halogen E46 models only. The wiring and mounting are different on Xenon-equipped cars and these will not plug in correctly. Check your existing headlights: if you see a ballast box behind the housing, you have Xenon and these are not compatible.

Do these fit the pre-facelift E46 sedan (1999–2001)?
No. BMW restyled the E46 sedan headlight housing for the 2002 model year facelift. The pre-facelift and post-facelift housings are not interchangeable. This listing covers 2002–2005 only.

Do these fit the E46 coupe or convertible?
No. The coupe and convertible use a different headlight shape. This is the 4-door sedan fitment only.

What bulbs do I need?
The H1 high beam bulb is included. The H7 low beam bulb is not included — you will need to supply your own H7. Pick one up before you start the install so you're not making a parts run mid-job.

Is a CCFL inverter required?
No. These use LED halos, not CCFL rings. No inverter is needed.
