If your shifter feels vague, sloppy, or disconnected, a worn shifter cable bushing is almost always the reason. From the factory these bushings are soft rubber, and after years of heat and use that rubber wears out and lets the shifter move around instead of moving the gear selector. That play is the slack you feel every time you grab a gear. Our Competition shifter bushing kit replaces that tired rubber with a direct, precise link between your hand and the transmission. We launched the original over a decade ago, and this new generation improves it in every way that counts, and it fits almost every manual Honda and Acura built since 2007.

Why Our Shifter Bushing Is Different

Here's what set our design apart the day we launched it, and it's still what matters most: we build a steel bearing into the larger bushing. That bearing lets the gear selector move without binding, which is the difference between a shifter that's tight and smooth and one that's just stiff. Plenty of upgraded bushings kill the slop but add friction doing it, so your shifter ends up feeling notchy. Ours don't. You get the direct, mechanical feel without the binding, and that steel bearing has been our edge for more than ten years.

Modern Materials, Built To Last

The Competition version is where we raised the bar again. Each shifter cable bushing is injection-molded black Delrin, which is seriously tough material. It shrugs off impacts and chemicals, resists high cyclic fatigue, and is rated to run up to 250 degrees Fahrenheit, hotter than anything it'll see in your car. These bushings are actually rated to handle more force than the shifter cables themselves. The center bushing is machined from 6061 aluminum with a protective anodized finish, so it's strong exactly where it needs to be.

Delrin and aluminum also fix a problem the old rubber parts had: corrosion. These won't rust, so they keep feeling great for years instead of degrading in the damp and road grime. Installed with the supplied high-temperature grease, they stay smooth for the long haul.

Easier To Install Than Ever

We made them simpler, not just stronger. There are no spiral clips to fight with anymore, and because each bushing self-locks into the housing, you don't need any special tools. It seats, it locks, and you're done. It's one of the most satisfying upgrades you can knock out in your driveway in a few minutes, and you feel the difference the very first time you row through the gears.
