This DS18 hybrid speaker combines an 8-inch mid-bass woofer and a compression driver in one mounting location. It's a useful option for a custom audio build when you want strong mids and clear highs without finding room for a separate horn. The water-resistant carbon fiber cone and neodymium magnets make it suited to installations in cars, trucks, motorcycles and boats where mounting space allows.
Fitment Information
- For custom audio installations with room for an 8-inch speaker, a 7.2-inch mounting cutout and 4.63 inches of mounting depth.
- No vehicle-specific model-year or chassis application. Fitment depends on the mounting panel, available clearance and audio system.

- Sold individually. Order two for a matching left and right pair.
- The woofer and compression driver each have an 8-ohm impedance and separate wiring terminals.
- This is the 8HD800NCFD-8 version. The 8HD800NCFD-4 uses a 4-ohm woofer and an 8-ohm driver.

Installation
Mount the speaker securely in a suitable panel or enclosure, then wire the woofer and compression driver to their separate terminals. Plan the amplifier channels and crossover arrangement before connecting either section.
Use DS18's recommended 80Hz-900Hz band-pass range for the woofer and 900Hz high-pass point for the driver as the starting point for tuning. Match amplifier output to each section's power handling and impedance. The combined 400-watt rating applies to both sections together.
Pairs Well With
- Full-range multichannel amplifier: Choose suitable output at 8 ohms to power the woofer and compression driver separately.
- DSP or active crossover: Set the crossover points and adjust each section's level so the mids and highs work together.
- Compatible speaker grille: Protect the cone in exposed mounting locations while leaving clearance for the center horn.
