Product Description
The CSF 8197 front mount heat exchanger gives the 2012-2018 Mercedes CLS 63 AMG and CLS 63 AMG S a more capable charge-cooling system. The M157 5.5L twin-turbo V8 uses a separate coolant circuit to control charge-air temperatures, and the factory heat exchanger can struggle with repeated pulls, warm weather, and tuned power levels.
CSF upgrades that weak point with a larger 23 mm core, 59 cooling tubes, and a flow area that is more than three times larger than the factory unit. The all-aluminum, TIG-welded construction is built to handle the heat and pressure that come with a hard-driven CLS63, while the polished finish gives the front of the car a clean performance look.
The 8197 is a true drop-in replacement with vehicle-specific mounting points and fittings. It also includes an aluminum bleeder screw to make servicing the charge-cooling circuit easier after installation.
Keeping Charge-Air Temperatures in Check on Your CLS63
The factory heat exchanger is usually fine for normal commuting, but heat soak becomes more noticeable when the car is tuned, driven hard, or used in hot weather. A larger heat exchanger helps the charge-cooling system recover more quickly between pulls and can help keep intake-air temperatures more consistent.
It is important to bleed the charge-cooling circuit carefully after installation. Make sure the system is filled properly and free of air before putting the car under load. This is a direct-fit part, but it is still a cooling-system job, so taking the time to do that final step correctly matters.
