Because this intake flows so much better than stock, the ECU needs to know about it. You cannot run this on the factory tune without running lean. Luckily,  COBB make it foolproof. If you own a VA chassis WRX (2015-2021), you know the stock car is way too quiet. You can't hear the turbo spool, and you definitely can't hear the bypass valve vent. The COBB SF Intake fixes that immediately, but it isn't just a noise-maker—it's a properly engineered airflow solution.

The MAF Housing Here is why this intake is different from the cheap pipes on eBay. The WRX's ECU is incredibly sensitive to airflow turbulence. If the air hits the sensor weirdly, the car stumbles.  COBB solved this by using a custom composite MAF housing with a built-in velocity stack and an airflow straightener grid. Think of it like a comb for the air—it smooths out the turbulence before it hits the sensor. Plus, because it's composite (plastic) instead of metal, it doesn't get blazing hot like aluminum pipes do. Cooler parts = cooler air = more power.

COBB know engine bays get hot, so  COBB included a custom aluminum airbox to shield the filter. It lines up perfectly with your factory air scoop, so you're still pulling in fresh air from outside, not hot air from the radiator.  COBB also use wire-reinforced silicone couplers. Why? Because lesser silicone hoses can actually suck shut (collapse) when the turbo pulls hard. Ours stay wide open.
