Product Description
Modern Subaru engines like the FA24 are engineering marvels, but they have a weak link: plastic plumbing. To save costs, the factory installs a plastic charge pipe that becomes brittle after repeated heat cycles. Eventually, the flange cracks or blows off, leaving the car with zero boost. The COBB Tuning Charge Pipe is the permanent fix. By swapping to rigid, high-grade aluminum, COBB ensures that the boost pressure actually makes it to the intercooler, regardless of how hot the engine gets.
Making a bigger pipe is easy; making one that fits is hard. COBB engineers designed a unique Billet Transition piece that steps the diameter up from 2.5" to 2.75" right at the intercooler connection. This tapered design maximizes flow velocity but keeps the lower section slim enough to clear the cooling fans. This smart design means you won't have fitment headaches if you decide to upgrade to a massive aluminum radiator later on.
The connection at the turbocharger is the most critical point. Many aftermarket pipes use cheap couplers that slip. COBB machined a custom Anodized Retaining Clip featuring a ball detent system. When you install this pipe, it locks onto the turbo housing with a positive engagement. Combined with high-quality 5-Ply Silicone Couplers, this system is virtually leak-proof.
