Emissions Compliance
- 50 State Legal - This part is legal for sale and use on Emissions Controlled Vehicles in all 50 states when used in accordance with the manufacturer's application guide because it has a California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO) number: D-660-9 / D-660-11 / D-660-39 / D-660-83
Specs & Features
- Zero Leak Technology: Features an updated seal design that provides a 60% increase in clamping force at peak boost, ensuring every psi reaches the engine instead of leaking back into the intake.
- Lightning Response: Reduced control volume by 30% combined with lightweight internal components means less inertia, allowing the valve to vent pressure instantly between shifts to prevent compressor surge.
- 360° Adjustability: Equipped with a Banjo-Fitting Vacuum Port that rotates freely, making hose routing a breeze in cramped engine bays and eliminating the leak points common with fixed NPT ports.
- Maintenance Free: The oversized Piston O-Ring (2x the diameter of previous designs) reduces wear and improves sealing, while the pre-calibrated spring eliminates the need for tedious tension adjustments.
- Compact Footprint: Innovative engineering allows this valve to fit into tight engine bays where bulky aftermarket valves often rub against hoses or frame rails.
Product Description
The stock bypass valve on most turbocharged cars is the "weak link" of the boost system. It’s usually made of plastic, uses a weak rubber diaphragm, and starts to leak as soon as you turn up the boost. The COBB Tuning LF BPV is the cure. "LF" stands for more than just a model name; it represents the lightweight, low-friction internals that make this unit special.
Most aftermarket valves are heavy and lazy. COBB engineers focused on reducing the weight of the moving parts inside the valve. Less weight means less inertia. When the throttle plate closes, the LF BPV reacts faster than heavier competitors. This rapid reaction time is critical for preventing compressor surge (that "flutter" sound that actually kills turbos) and keeping the turbo spinning freely between shifts.
Older valves required you to "tune" the spring tension—too tight and it surges, too loose and it leaks. COBB solved this. The updated spring and seal design creates a 60% increase in clamping force at peak boost without requiring manual adjustment. It holds high pressure when you are wide open throttle but remains compliant enough for smooth operation at idle. Plus, the vacuum port uses a Banjo Bolt setup. Instead of fighting with a stiff vacuum line, you can swivel the port 360 degrees to find the perfect angle.
Boost leaks are the enemy of horsepower. If the bypass valve is leaking, the turbo has to work harder to make the same power, creating excess heat and lag. The COBB LF BPV is a "set it and forget it" reliability upgrade. It seals tight, vents fast, and installs easily. Whether running a stock turbo or a big aftermarket setup, this is the valve that keeps the system pressurized and the engine happy.
