The stock tC exhaust does its job, but it doesn't do much else. It's quiet, it's heavy, and it sounds exactly like a 2.5L four-cylinder doing nothing interesting. This Borla S-Type axle-back changes that without going overboard - you get a noticeably more aggressive note under throttle, it cleans up at highway speed with no drone, and it sounds completely at home as a daily driver. It's the middle ground between the subdued Touring and the loud-all-the-time ATAK - which is exactly where most tC2 owners land after doing the research.

Installation replaces everything from the rear axle back, bolting directly onto the factory mid-pipe with no cutting or welding. The hardware is included. Most people knock it out in under an hour with basic hand tools in a driveway. The oval tip measures 4.25" x 3.5" and exits single left rear - a clean, purposeful look that suits the tC's coupe lines well.

The tubing is T-304 austenitic stainless steel — the same grade used in aircraft, not the cheaper T-409 used in most budget exhausts. That matters on the 2AR-FE engine (the 2.5L four-cylinder shared with the Camry and RAV4) because the cast iron manifold runs hot and cheap steel corrodes from the inside out within a few years. The T-304 construction is part of why Borla backs this with a million-mile warranty — they've done the math on longevity.
