  • Cost effective solution of engine retarding for towing with the automatic transmission on the Ford PowerStrokes
  • Commands the Exhaust Back Pressure (EBP) valve to activate as well as keeping the lock-up clutch of the torque converter to stay engaged to allow up to 100% of the retarding force to be transferred while in 3rd and 4th gear
  • Transmission oil temperatures will remain low because of little or no slippage occurring in the converter in these gears
  • For more efficient retarding use or medium to heavy loads use BD Exhaust Brake 2033143, 2023144, 1037143 or 1027144

    Product Description

    Maximize your Power Stroke's exhaust backpressure valve with BD Diesel's BrakeLoc. This device connects to the EBPV control wire, transforming the factory valve into an electronically controlled exhaust brake. The package includes BD AutoLoc to ensure lock-up during exhaust brake activation, delivering full retarding force in 3rd and 4th gears. Note the 2-3 second delay in engine retarding due to hydraulic EBPV activation. While BrakeLoc is a budget-friendly alternative, it is not a substitute for an exhaust brake. For faster and more efficient braking, BD Diesel recommends their exhaust brake system with Variable Orifice Technology, which avoids the sticking issues of the stock EBPV valve.
