Advanced Fuel Dynamics ProFlex Commander for Chevy Corvette C5 / Z06 LS1 LS6 (97-04) E85 Flex Fuel Kit

Run gasoline, E85 or any blend in your C5 Corvette with the Advanced Fuel Dynamics ProFlex Commander. The system reads the ethanol content in the tank and adjusts injector operation in real time, so you do not have to drain the tank or switch maps when the fuel blend changes.

AFD's LS1 C5 test car picked up more than 30 wheel horsepower and 30 lb-ft of torque on ethanol compared with pump gas. Your results will depend on the car, fuel and current modifications, but the C5 responds well to the additional octane available from E85.

Fitment Notes

• Fits C5 Corvette models equipped with the factory 5.7L LS1 or LS6 V8.
• Fits both manual and automatic LS1 applications.
• AFD says a separate flex-fuel tune is not required for a stock or otherwise compatible naturally aspirated setup.
• Tuning required by a supercharger, turbocharger, larger injectors, camshaft or other engine modifications is separate.
• This kit does not fit the 2005 and newer C6 Corvette.

Choose Your Commander

Standard Commander: This is the right choice for a naturally aspirated LS1 or LS6 running factory injectors. It works with stock cars, common bolt-ons and compatible performance gasoline tunes.

Commander Pro: Choose this version if the Corvette is turbocharged, supercharged or running 600cc/60 lb/hr or larger injectors. The Pro version provides more precise injector control for higher-output setups.

Choose Your Fuel Sensor

Standard Sensor: Recommended for stock and mildly modified fuel systems. It provides accurate ethanol-content readings and is all most naturally aspirated street cars will need.

E-Sense Sensor: Made for modified, higher-flow fuel systems. It also adds fuel-temperature monitoring and additional real-time information through the ProFlex Connect app.

Fuel Line Setup

Select stock fuel lines if the Corvette still has its original-style fuel system. Select modified fuel lines if the fuel system has been converted to aftermarket lines or fittings. Information about the current fuel-line setup will need to be provided with the modified option.

Emissions Information

The ProFlex Commander does not remove or replace emissions equipment. It reads the ethanol content in the fuel and electronically adjusts injector operation so the engine can run gasoline, E85 or any mixture of the two.

Advanced Fuel Dynamics does not publish a CARB Executive Order number for this kit. California emissions compliance will depend on the vehicle and its complete modification setup.

ProFlex Connect App

The free ProFlex Connect app lets you check the ethanol content in the tank from an iPhone or Android device. It can also help locate nearby E85 stations and provides system monitoring and diagnostic information.

Installation

AFD rates the installation at under an hour with common tools. The wiring harness connects to the factory injector harness, while the ethanol sensor installs into the fuel system. Relieve the fuel pressure and check the fuel-line connections for leaks once the installation is complete.

Before You Buy

• The fuel pump and the rest of the fuel system must be in good condition and capable of supporting the additional fuel demand of E85.
• Older factory C5 fuel pumps may be worth testing if their condition or service history is unknown.
• Forced-induction and higher-output builds may require larger injectors, an upgraded fuel pump and separate engine tuning.
• Choose the Commander Pro and E-Sense sensor when building around larger injectors or a modified high-flow fuel system.
