If you want to run E85 in your M54-powered E46 but still need the option to fill up with pump gas, the Advanced Fuel Dynamics ProFlex Commander handles both. It reads the ethanol content in the tank and adjusts injector operation in real time, letting you run gasoline, E85 or any mixture of the two without changing maps.
On a stock or lightly modified naturally aspirated 330i, 330Ci or 330xi, the Standard Commander works without an E85-specific tune. Advanced Fuel Dynamics also offers the Commander Pro for supercharged, turbocharged and larger-injector builds.

Fitment Note: These are the US-market model years. Advanced Fuel Dynamics lists a broader worldwide range of 2000–2006. This kit does not fit the E46 M3 with the S54 or the 2.5L 325i/325Ci/325xi.
Standard Commander or Commander Pro?
- Standard Commander: Choose this for a naturally aspirated E46 running factory-sized injectors. It works with the stock calibration or a compatible gasoline performance tune without requiring an additional E85 tune.
- Commander Pro: Choose this for a supercharged or turbocharged M54, or a car using injectors rated at 600cc/60 lb/hr or larger. The Pro version provides more precise control over larger injectors.
The Commander Pro will also work on a stock M54 if you plan to add forced induction or larger injectors later.
Standard Sensor or E-SENSE?
- Standard Sensor: The right option for stock and mildly modified fuel systems.
- E-SENSE Sensor: Made for higher-flow fuel systems and higher-horsepower builds. It also adds fuel-temperature monitoring through the ProFlex Connect app.
The selected ethanol sensor is included with the kit.
Dyno-Tested on an E46 330Ci
Advanced Fuel Dynamics tested the ProFlex Commander on an E46 330Ci using 93 octane and an E83 ethanol blend. The car gained more than 14 wheel horsepower on ethanol, with additional power showing through the RPM range. Results will vary based on the car, fuel blend and modifications.

Installation
The supplied harness connects between the factory injector harness and each fuel injector. The vehicle-specific fuel lines add the ethanol sensor to the E46 fuel system without making you piece together a universal sensor kit. No ECU activation is needed on a stock or lightly modified naturally aspirated setup.
Emissions Information
The ProFlex Commander does not remove or replace emissions equipment. It reads the ethanol content in the fuel and electronically adjusts injector operation so the engine can run gasoline, E85 or any mixture of the two.
Advanced Fuel Dynamics does not publish a CARB Executive Order number for this kit. Redline360 cannot ship non-CARB-compliant products to California for use on pollution-controlled vehicles.

- Confirm that your E46 has the 3.0L M54B30 engine.
- Choose Commander Pro for forced induction or injectors rated at 600cc/60 lb/hr or larger.
- Advanced Fuel Dynamics recommends an E85 or flex-fuel-specific tune for forced-induction cars and builds with larger injectors.
- The kit already includes the ethanol sensor, vehicle-specific fuel lines and injector wiring harness.
