Fitment Note: This kit fits the front lower control arm position on both the 2nd and 3rd generation Toyota Tacoma and the 5th generation Toyota 4Runner. It is not compatible with any Tacoma or 4Runner equipped with KDSS. Verify your suspension type before ordering. This is an aftermarket modification not affiliated with or endorsed by Toyota. The installer assumes all responsibility for installation and use.

- Rival 4x4 Engine Skid Plate for Toyota 4Runner (2010-2024) The Nytop kit covers the lower control arms while this Rival plate handles the engine and oil pan, so running both together gives you real front-to-undercarriage coverage on the 5th gen 4Runner rather than leaving either area exposed.
The lower control arm is one of the lowest points on the front suspension of both the Tacoma and 4Runner, which makes it one of the first things to take a hit on rocks and trail obstacles. A hard enough strike near the ball joint or bushing mount can bend or snap the arm entirely, which is an expensive fix in the field and an even more expensive one in the shop. This Nytop kit bolts a 1/4 inch aluminum plate to each arm with three mounting points that cover the ball joint end and both bushing positions, distributing and deflecting the impact rather than letting it land directly on the arm. If you've already pulled your air dam, these plates also close off the open holes that cause the whistling sound at highway speeds, which is a bonus a lot of owners don't expect going in.
