Model-year warning: Some listings refer to 2005-2013 because a 997 may be titled or registered as a 2013. Porsche had already moved to the 991 generation by then. If your car is a 2012 or 2013, confirm the chassis before buying. These headlights do not fit a 991.
Are Morimoto headlights a good upgrade for a Porsche 997?
They make the most sense when you want a complete headlight assembly, not just a different bulb. Those are manufacturer test results, not a promise that every car will measure the same. Aim, ride height and the condition of the original lights all affect the comparison.
If your original xenon headlights are clear, correctly aimed and working well, the decision may be mostly about appearance. 997.1 vs. 997.2 headlight fitment
997.1: the simpler application
On a 2005-2008 997.1, the Morimoto assemblies support the available headlight functions through the supplied plug-and-play connections. They fit cars that originally had halogen or xenon headlights and work with the factory single-projector and dual-projector configurations.
Plug-and-play does not mean there is nothing else to do. The daytime running light harness still has to be routed and powered, the housings must be fully seated in the factory tracks, and the beam aim needs to be checked when the installation is finished.
997.2: physical fitment plus coding
On a 2009-2012 997.2, the assemblies physically fit, but the factory adaptive front-lighting system expects components that are no longer present. Without coding, the car can display messages such as “Dynamic cornering light failure” or “Headlight beam adjustment faulty.” A Porsche specialist with the correct PIWIS capability needs to code the adaptive function out of the car.
The tradeoff is permanent while these headlights are installed: the Morimoto assemblies do not retain the factory adaptive movement. If cornering response matters more to you than the LED output and appearance, this is probably not the right upgrade. It is better to make that decision before the bumper or trunk trim is apart.
What about factory dual-projector headlights?

- Route the DRL harness carefully. Keep it away from sharp edges and moving hardware. If using a firewall grommet, keep the opening as small as practical so the seal can still keep water out.
- Seat the guide pins in the tracks. If a headlight will not sit flush, do not force the locking mechanism. Pull it back out, verify alignment and try again.

Morimoto 997.1 LED tail lights: red or smoked?
The Morimoto 997.1 LED tail lights fit 2005-2008 cars only. They do not fit the 2009-2012 997.2 body. Both versions use the same basic functions: red parking and brake lights, amber turn signals, white reverse lights and a red rear fog function.
The choice is mostly visual:
- Red lens, part LF740: the closer match for an original-looking 997.1. This is the safer choice if the rest of the car is visually stock.
- Smoked lens, part LF745: darker and more obviously modified. It works best when the car already has black trim, dark wheels or other deliberate contrast.
Both are complete LED assemblies with UV-treated polycarbonate lenses, a plug-and-play adapter harness and integrated resistors. Do the 997.1 tail lights require coding?

Confirm the parking light, brake light, both turn signals, hazards, reverse light and rear fog light.

Fitment covers the 2005-2012 Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, applicable Targa models, Turbo, Turbo S and GT3. They do not fit RS variants, including the GT3 RS and GT2 RS. If you own an RS, stop there and verify a different housing rather than assuming all 997 fenders use the same marker.

Will the headlights fit a 2013 Porsche 911?
