A hard enough strike near the ball joint or bushing mount can bend or snap the arm entirely, which is an expensive fix in the field and an even more expensive one in the shop. This Nytop kit bolts a 1\/4 inch aluminum plate to each arm with three mounting points that cover the ball joint end and both bushing positions, distributing and deflecting the impact rather than letting it land directly on the arm.
